Whether you are hoping for a ceremony that is elegant and traditional or fun and quirky, I would love to help you craft a ceremony that celebrates your love and your spirit! The couples I work with come from many different religious and cultural backgrounds and so we work together to choose the kind of symbolic or sacred language that best fits you. I officiate a wide range of ceremonies from spiritual to non-religious, from Christian to interfaith.

Using my ceremony workbook, as well as traditions and ideas that you bring to the table, I will guide you through the entire process of crafting a warm, unique, and meaningful ceremony that just might have your guests saying, "That's the best wedding ceremony I've ever been to!" I actually get that comment quite a bit! I consider it a testimony to the collaborative approach we take to crafting your ceremony and to the warm connection that we make with one another through the process. I find it a true pleasure and privilege to get to know you, guide you through the ceremony planning process, and then lead a unique ceremony that touches heart, mind, and soul.

about me

I have had the privilege of working with over 375 couples since my first wedding ceremony in 2001. I have officiated weddings all over the DC metro region: in historic mansions, family homes, hotels, churches, parks and wineries. I even officiated a "flash mob" wedding at the Reston Town Center that got unsuspecting passerbys to participate in the fun!

I am a strong supporter of marriage equality, believing in the sacredness of the relationship between two people choosing to knit their lives together in a loving, committed union. I offer the same wedding services to people of every sexual orientation and gender identity. I had the great honor of officiating a marriage ceremony in the District of Columbia the first day same-sex marriage became legal there as well as officiating a marriage ceremony in Virginia on the second day same-sex marriage was legal there!

Additionally I offer optional Marriage Prep sessions to the engaged couples with whom I work. I’ve been married for many years myself and know how important it is to have a strong foundation of connection, honesty, communication, and understanding. I offer a basic package of three 90 minute sessions which can be expanded to include more sessions if desired. Using the Prepare-Enrich  customized couple assessment as well as other tools, I lead couples through a process that helps them create deeper, healthier relationships.

Finally, I’m a local girl, having grown up in Northern Virginia and graduated from Herndon High School. I have an undergraduate degree from the University of Richmond and a Master of Divinity Degree from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University. I have been on the staff of congregations in Virginia, Georgia, and Texas and currently serve as a hospice chaplain in Aldie, VA in addition to being an affiliated community minister at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Reston, VA. My hobbies include singing and improv theater. My husband and I have been married for over 25 years and we live with our two teenage sons and two rescue cats, Calvin and Hobbes, in Reston.
