It is not necessary for me to attend ceremony rehearsals.
Rehearsals, led by a wedding coordinator, a friend, or even the
couple themselves are very helpful. They allow the wedding party
to practice ushering/seating, wedding party placement and entering
and exiting the ceremony. However, they do not require the presence
of the officiant. The spoken part of the ceremony is usually not
practiced at the rehearsal and can easily be talked through at the
final consultation.
During the actual ceremony, I give discreet cues to
the couple that guide them through the entire spoken ceremony. These
cues allow the couple to be at ease throughout the ceremony, knowing
that all they have to do is show up and a confident professional
will guide them through the entire ceremony.
Additionally, I fill out a Rehearsal Worksheet with
the couple at the final consultation. This sheet outlines every
step of a rehearsal and can be used by the couple, a friend, or
a wedding coordinator to lead their rehearsal.
However, when my schedule permits, I can be booked
to lead the rehearsal.
